Cloudflare experienced a 6 hour 7 minute outage on February 20, 2026, after an automated Addressing API cleanup task erroneously requested all BYOIP prefixes for deletion due to a pending_delete query bug, leading to the withdrawal of ~1,100 BGP prefixes and reachability issues across CDN/Security, Spectrum, Dedicated Egress, and Magic Transit; the 1.1.1.1 website returned 403s though DNS resolution remained unaffected. Engineers halted the task, reverted changes, guided customers to re-advertise prefixes, and completed a global configuration rollout to restore remaining prefixes by 23:03 UTC; Cloudflare committed to controlled, health-mediated configuration rollouts, API schema standardization, separation of configured vs operational state, and circuit breakers to prevent large-scale withdrawals in the future.
