We made Workers KV up to 3x faster — here’s the data

Cloudflare announces significant performance improvements to Workers KV, delivering up to 3x faster hot reads and reducing latency by about 20 ms per operation through direct bindings that bypass Front Line layers, tiered caching to reduce trips to central storage, and in-memory caching for the hottest keys. The optimizations cut KV Worker wall time at the 90th percentile from 22 ms to under 12 ms, with ~30% of previously remote reads now served regionally and over 40% of global requests resolved in under a millisecond for small, high-throughput keys. These gains benefit products like Pages, Queues, and Access without customer action, with broader rollout planned to further accelerate workloads.
