Introducing Stream Generated Captions, powered by Workers AI

Cloudflare announced an AI-generated captioning feature for Stream that integrates into the dashboard and API, using Workers AI and the Whisper ASR model to transcribe on-demand videos and live recordings while keeping data within Cloudflare. The open beta (from June 20, 2024) supports English captions for videos under two hours, updates players and HLS/DASH manifests automatically, and emphasizes quick turnaround via pre-processing, 30‑second batching, and parallelized requests. The roadmap includes more languages and support for longer videos.
