Improving India’s Cyber Defenses: Maharashtra’s Cyber Security Project | UpGuard

The Maharashtra Cyber Security Project is a state-run initiative (approved September 2023, ~₹837 crore, targeted completion by 2029) to bolster Maharashtra’s cyber defenses by establishing a Cybersecurity and Cybercrime Prevention Centre, Command and Control Centre, CERT-MH, Security Operations Centre, and supporting DTAC/COE/cloud infrastructure; it emphasizes AI-driven detection, advanced digital forensics (deepfake, mobile malware, blockchain/social media forensics), 24/7 monitoring and a large-scale law enforcement training and recruitment effort to reduce cybercrime and improve incident response.
