This document is an awareness-style overview of phishing covering what phishing is, attacker objectives (credential and PII theft, malware/ransomware delivery), and a taxonomy of eleven techniques (spear phishing, whaling, clone phishing, vishing, smishing, link manipulation, filter evasion, website forgery, covert redirect, tabnabbing, and pharming). It also summarizes common indicators of phishing, recommended preventive controls (security training, 2FA, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, email/web gateways, endpoint defenses), and guidance for reporting suspected phishing.
