PSYOP campaigns targeting Ukraine – Week in security with Tony Anscombe

ESET researchers reported Operation Texonto, a Russia-aligned disinformation (PSYOP) campaign conducted in two waves (November and late December 2023) that spread false narratives about heating interruptions and shortages to demoralize Ukrainian speakers; concurrently, they detected a spearphishing campaign targeting a Ukrainian defense company and an EU agency to exfiltrate Microsoft Office 365 credentials, with the PSYOPs and phishing likely interconnected.
