Beware of fake AI tools masking very real malware threats

This report explains how threat actors exploit the popularity of Generative AI tools as lures—using phishing domains, malicious browser extensions, fake mobile apps and social-media ads—to distribute malware (notably info-stealers such as Rilide Stealer and Vidar). ESET telemetry cited includes hundreds of thousands of blocked accesses to malicious domains and thousands of extension install attempts; the report outlines impacts (credential theft, account takeover, potential RATs/ransomware) and practical mitigations (use official app stores, verify developers, avoid clicking ads, use security software and enable MFA).
