A Chinese national, Jingliang Su, was sentenced to 46 months in prison and ordered to repay $26.9M for his role in a Cambodia‑based cryptocurrency investment scam that defrauded 174 Americans of approximately $36.9M; the fraud relied on romance and investment social engineering, fake trading websites that displayed fabricated balances, and laundering through US shell companies, offshore bank accounts (including Deltec Bank in the Bahamas) and conversion to Tether, and multiple co-conspirators have pleaded guilty or been sentenced.
