EU Launches GCVE to Track Vulnerabilities Without Relying on US

Europe has launched GCVE (db.gcve.eu), a CIRCL-managed, decentralized vulnerability database that aggregates and normalizes data from 25+ sources, lets GCVE Numbering Authorities assign IDs without central approval, and exposes an open API for integration with security tools. Positioned as a complementary and CVE‑compatible alternative after funding uncertainties around the US CVE program, experts say GCVE reduces single‑point‑of‑failure risk and backlog delays while advancing digital sovereignty and faster vulnerability documentation.
