AT&T Data Breach: Hackers Steal Call and Text Records for “Nearly All” Customers

AT&T confirmed a major data breach in which attackers accessed call and text metadata for approximately 109 million customers by compromising an AT&T Snowflake account via stolen credentials in April 2024; exposed fields included phone numbers, call/text dates and durations, and cell site identifiers, while names, content, SSNs, and timestamps were not disclosed. The company worked with law enforcement, obtained DOJ permission to delay public notification, reported one arrest, and said there is no evidence the data is publicly available.
