New OPCOPRO Scam Uses AI and Fake WhatsApp Groups to Defraud Victim

A Check Point–reported fraud campaign named OPCOPRO lures victims via SMS links into AI-generated WhatsApp groups staffed by fake profiles and bots, builds trust over weeks, then convinces victims to install an official-store app (Android package com.yme.opcopro) and upload ID and liveness selfies. The app is a hollow WebView used to display fake trading gains; harvested identity data enables SIM swaps and account takeovers, and researchers warn the scheme is industrialized, multilingual, and capable of wide-scale financial and identity theft.
