The FBI issued a public service announcement warning of a sharp rise in cyber-enabled cargo theft—phishing and account compromise campaigns targeting freight brokers and carriers that post fraudulent load listings, impersonate legitimate companies, reroute and steal high-value shipments, and manipulate registration/insurance records; losses in the U.S. and Canada are estimated at about $725M in 2025, with active exploitation observed since at least 2024 and attribution to financially motivated groups (e.g., Diesel Vortex) stealing credentials via phishing.
