Microsoft: Windows Backup now available for enterprise users

Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows Backup for Organizations, an enterprise backup feature (opt-in, disabled by default) that became available after the September 2025 Windows Monthly Cumulative Update for Entra-joined devices and must be enabled by an IT administrator via backup and restore policy settings. The tool can back up Windows settings, preferences, and Microsoft Store-installed apps for Windows 10 and 11 and restore them during Windows 11 setup; backed-up data is stored in Exchange Online in the tenant’s selected Country/Region and Microsoft states the data is protected with encryption and strict access controls.
