Signal now blocks Microsoft Recall screenshots on Windows 11

Signal has enabled a default “screen security” feature on Windows 11 to prevent Microsoft’s Recall from capturing screenshots of Signal chats by setting a DRM flag on app windows, addressing privacy and security concerns around Recall’s continuous screenshotting. While Microsoft has made Recall opt-in with added protections (Windows Hello, sensitive data filtering, rate limiting, and controls to delete or disable snapshots), Signal argues risks remain for privacy-preserving apps and warns of potential accessibility trade-offs; the protection does not extend to screenshots taken on macOS or Linux.
