Hackers claim Discord breach exposed data of 5.5 million users

Discord is responding to claims that attackers accessed a third-party customer support service (allegedly Zendesk) via a compromised outsourced support agent account, exfiltrating roughly 1.6 TB of data comprising ticket attachments and transcripts. The attackers claim ~8.4M tickets affecting 5.5M users, with around 70,000 government ID photos exposed and some partial payment information; they demanded a ransom and threatened public release. Discord says the incident involved a third-party service, disputes the numbers, and will not pay, while BleepingComputer could not independently verify the samples.
