Hacker charged with stealing $53 million from Uranium crypto exchange

U.S. prosecutors charged Jonathan Spalletta (aliases "Cthulhon"/"Jspalletta") after he exploited two smart contract flaws in the Uranium Finance automated market maker on BNB Chain in April 2021, draining roughly $53.3M and forcing the exchange to shut down; he laundered funds via Tornado Cash and used proceeds to buy high-value collectibles, and law enforcement later seized assets and recovered approximately $31M.
