Global fintech firm EquiLend offline after recent cyberattack

EquiLend, a New York-based global financial technology firm, identified a cyber security incident on January 22, 2024 that placed parts of its systems offline and involved unauthorized access; LockBit affiliates have claimed responsibility although EquiLend has not confirmed that attribution. The company is working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate and restore services, has notified clients that restoration may take several days, and has not yet disclosed whether any customer or company data was exposed.
