Data breach at Japanese telecom giant NTT hits 18,000 companies

NTT Communications disclosed a cybersecurity incident discovered on February 5, 2025, in which its Order Information Distribution System was breached, potentially exposing data for 17,891 corporate customers (names, representative names, contract numbers, phone numbers, email and physical addresses, and service usage information). The company blocked the attacker’s access by February 6, identified lateral movement to another device by February 15 which was disconnected, and states the threat is now contained; only a public announcement will be provided to impacted customers.
