Microsoft will enable the Windows settings backup and restore tool by default for eligible Microsoft Entra-joined and hybrid-joined devices running Windows 11 26H2 (default applies only when admins haven't set the policy). The announcement covers rollout timing (Insider preview and general availability), regional and cloud-environment exclusions, that restore remains disabled by default, and that administrators retain control and can explicitly enable or disable the feature via Intune or Group Policy.
