Google now lets you change your @gmail.com address, rolling out

Google is rolling out a feature that lets users change their primary Gmail address, converting the old address into an alias so emails reach both while preserving all account data; the option may not be available to all users yet, there is a 12-month limit on creating additional addresses for the same account, the new address cannot be deleted, and changes can be made via myaccount.google.com if the setting appears under Personal Info > Email.
