Blockchain gaming platform WEMIX hacked to steal $6.1 million

WEMIX, a blockchain gaming platform by Wemade, was breached on 2025-02-28 after attackers obtained authentication keys for the NILE NFT monitoring service (likely from a developer's shared repository). The attackers spent about two months preparing, executed 15 withdrawal attempts (13 successful), and stole 8,654,860 WEMIX tokens (≈ $6.1M), which were quickly laundered through exchanges. WEMIX has taken blockchain services offline to migrate infrastructure and is coordinating with Korean law enforcement; deposits were suspended by a trading alliance and the firm aims to fully restore service after hardening.
