The U.S. Department of Justice announced guilty pleas from five individuals who helped North Korea generate illicit revenue by selling or stealing U.S. identities to place DPRK-linked remote IT workers at American companies and by facilitating cryptocurrency thefts tied to the APT38/Lazarus group; the actions affected 136 companies, generated over $2.2M for DPRK, and accompany civil forfeiture efforts to seize more than $15M of laundered cryptocurrency from 2023 heists totaling $382M.
