Verizon insider data breach hits over 63,000 employees

Verizon reported an insider data breach affecting 63,206 employees after an employee accessed a file containing sensitive PII (including names, physical addresses, SSNs, dates of birth, compensation and other data). Discovered months later, Verizon says there is no evidence the data was shared externally or misused, and it is notifying affected employees and offering two years of identity theft protection and credit monitoring.
