Microsoft is mitigating a known issue that causes WUSA to fail with ERROR_BAD_PATHNAME when installing .msu updates from network shares containing multiple files on Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025; home and non-managed devices receive an automatic Known Issue Rollback, while managed environments can apply a KIR Group Policy (and can work around by installing .msu locally). The Update History page may briefly report a pending restart after installation, and Microsoft notes recent, separate WSUS delivery problems that were resolved earlier in 2025.
