LA housing authority confirms breach claimed by Cactus ransomware

The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) confirmed an IT network attack that the Cactus ransomware gang claims resulted in the theft of ~891 GB of files containing PII, database backups, financial and corporate documents; Cactus has published screenshots and an archive as proof. HACLA has engaged external forensic specialists, has not yet disclosed detection timing or confirmed the extent of data exposure, and historically was also breached by the LockBit group in 2022–2023.
