Microsoft fixed a Word for Microsoft 365 bug (version 2409, build 18025.20104) that could delete locally saved documents when filenames included a # or capitalized extensions (e.g., .DOCX, .RTF), delivering the remedy via a service change that applies after restarting Office apps. Until fully propagated, users can check the Recycle Bin, manually save before closing, disable the Backstage prompt for saves, or revert to a prior Click-to-Run version.
