Romanian water authority hit by ransomware attack over weekend

Romania's National Administration of Waters suffered a ransomware incident that affected roughly 1,000 computer systems and 10 of 11 regional offices; attackers reportedly abused Windows BitLocker to lock files and left a seven-day ransom demand. IT services including GIS, databases, email, web services and DNS were impacted, but operational technology and hydrotechnical operations remained functional and safe.
