Stanford University disclosed a cybersecurity incident impacting its Department of Public Safety where unauthorized access from May 12 to Sept 27, 2023 resulted in the theft of documents containing PII for about 27,000 individuals (including SSNs, government IDs, passports, driver's licenses and, in some cases, biometric, medical and payment data); the Akira ransomware group claimed the breach and published the stolen ~430 GB dataset on its leak site.
