Star Citizen game dev discloses breach affecting user data

Cloud Imperium Games disclosed a January 21, 2026 security breach in which attackers obtained read-only access to backup systems and accessed limited user personal data (metadata, contact details, usernames, names, and dates of birth). The company states no passwords or payment information were stored in the affected systems and there is currently no evidence the data was published, but the exposed PII could be used in phishing attacks.
