Maintaining enterprise IT hygiene using Wazuh SIEM/XDR

This article presents Wazuh’s IT hygiene capability (introduced in v4.13.0), which leverages the Syscollector module to aggregate comprehensive endpoint inventory—hardware, OS, software, processes, ports, users, groups, and browser extensions—into a centralized dashboard for monitoring, querying, and policy enforcement. It demonstrates practical applications including patch and extension management, dormant and privileged account auditing, hardware resource optimization, and port/service monitoring, and concludes with best practices such as establishing baselines, automating alerts, integrating with workflows, maintaining documentation, leveraging other Wazuh modules, and conducting regular reviews to improve security posture.
