Microsoft advises that Windows 11 24H2 systems installed from media containing the October or November 2024 security updates may become unable to receive further security updates; systems installed via Windows Update, the Microsoft Update Catalog, or media with December 2024 or later updates are unaffected. The recommended remediation is to reinstall using media that includes the December 2024 security update or later. Separately, the January 2025 optional updates fix an issue preventing non-admin users from changing time zones, with a Control Panel workaround available until the February Patch Tuesday release.
