Baltimore City Public Schools data breach affects over 31,000 people

Baltimore City Public Schools disclosed a February 13, 2025 cybersecurity incident in which attackers accessed IT systems and may have exfiltrated documents containing Social Security numbers, driver’s license and passport numbers, student records and other PII affecting roughly 31,000 individuals (including an estimated 1,150 students). Media reports link the breach to the Cloak ransomware operation; the district notified law enforcement, engaged external cybersecurity experts, and is offering credit monitoring to impacted people.
