OpenAI is retiring famous GPT-4o model, says GPT 5.2 is good enough

OpenAI announced it will retire GPT-4o, GPT-4.1 (and mini), and o4-mini on February 13, 2026, alongside GPT-5 (Instant and Thinking), citing that the vast majority of usage has shifted to GPT-5.2 and highlighting new personalization features and safeguards; despite past user preference for GPT-4o’s conversational style, only 0.1% of users still choose it daily.
