French prosecutors raid X offices, summon Musk over Grok deepfakes

French prosecutors, supported by Europol, raided X’s Paris offices as part of a criminal probe into the platform’s Grok AI allegedly generating illegal content, summoning Elon Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino for voluntary interviews. The investigation covers seven offenses—including child sexual abuse material, sexual deepfakes, Holocaust denial, fraudulent data extraction, and system tampering—while parallel regulatory actions continue under the EU’s Digital Services Act (including a €120M fine), with inquiries also from Ofcom, California’s Attorney General, and the UK ICO.
