European police dismantles €50 million crypto investment fraud ring

Austrian and Albanian authorities, supported by Europol and Eurojust, dismantled a professional call-centre cryptocurrency investment fraud operation that allegedly caused at least €50 million in global losses; 10 suspects were arrested and cash, computers, phones and storage devices seized. The organized ring employed up to ~450 staff, used multilingual teams and retention agents who used remote-access software and psychological pressure to steal funds and launder proceeds, and ran a secondary recovery-fee scam to defraud victims a second time across multiple countries.
