Nissan Oceania suffered a December 2023 cyberattack claimed by the Akira ransomware gang that exfiltrated roughly 100 GB of data and affected about 100,000 people; up to 10% had government identification exposed (approx. 4,000 Medicare cards, 7,500 driver’s licenses, 220 passports, 1,300 tax file numbers). Akira has published the stolen data on its extortion page, and Nissan is notifying impacted individuals while offering identity support and credit monitoring services.
