Microsoft is introducing an optional “Startup Boost” scheduled task for Office that preloads performance enhancements at logon, rolling out starting mid-May 2025. It runs only on systems with at least 8 GB RAM and 5 GB free disk space, is disabled in Energy Saver mode, and can be toggled off in Office settings—though Office updates will recreate the tasks unless admins disable the feature via Group Policy. The document also notes earlier tests of ad-supported Office desktop apps.
