New Windows 11 recovery tool to let admins remotely fix unbootable devices

Microsoft announced a Windows Resiliency Initiative featuring Quick Machine Recovery, enabling IT admins to remotely deploy targeted fixes via Windows Update to repair unbootable PCs, inspired by the July 2024 CrowdStrike outage. The company is also working with security vendors to shift security products out of kernel mode through the Microsoft Virus Initiative and unveiled additional Secure Future Initiative efforts, including a $4M Zero Day Quest event, enhanced administrator protection prompts, Config Refresh for policy restoration, and Zero Trust DNS support.
