Automattic blocks WP Engine’s access to WordPress resources

WordPress.org has blocked WP Engine from accessing its resources and delivering plugin updates due to disputes over project contributions, trademark use, and alleged manipulation of WordPress features, pushing the conflict into legal territory with Automattic. This action leaves many WP Engine–hosted sites without automatic security updates, increasing risk exposure, and has prompted Patchstack to pause publishing new vulnerability details to prevent exploitation. WordPress.org asserts WP Engine must now handle its own security measures, while affected customers are advised to consider alternative hosting options.
