Microsoft confirmed that January 2026 updates (KB5073455, KB5078131, KB5073724) can cause Secure Launch–capable Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 10 (22H2, LTSC 2021/2019) devices with Virtual Secure Mode enabled to restart instead of shutting down or hibernating; an out-of-band update mitigates part of the issue, affected users should temporarily use `shutdown /s /t 0`, and a full fix is planned in a future Windows update.
