Microsoft released a PowerShell script to automate updating the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) partition so KB5034441 can be applied and CVE-2024-20666 (a BitLocker encryption bypass) mitigated; the update had been failing on some Windows 10 systems with 0x80070643 errors because the deployed winre.wim was too large for the recovery partition, and administrators can either run Microsoft’s script, manually resize the partition, or use vendor scripts (with backups recommended).
