Microsoft has quietly extended the free Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for consumer devices through October 12, 2027. The change was reflected in updated documentation and an editor's note rather than a formal announcement; enrolled consumer devices (including Microsoft Entra-registered devices and up to 10 devices per Microsoft account) will remain covered, and Microsoft outlined several enrollment methods and restrictions (not available for domain-joined or MDM-managed devices). The extension gives users additional time to transition to Windows 11 or purchase new hardware.
