Microsoft re-released the November 2024 Exchange Server security updates (Nov 2024 SUv2) after the original Nov 2024 SUv1 caused mail delivery outages on servers using transport or DLP rules; admins are advised to install SUv2 (or allow automatic update in December), run the Exchange Health Checker, and follow provided remediation steps. The SUv2 also adds more granular detection and warning controls for CVE-2024-49040 (an Exchange spoofing vulnerability), with detection and email warnings enabled by default when secure-by-default settings are used.
