Ireland fines LinkedIn €310 million over targeted advertising

Ireland’s Data Protection Commission fined LinkedIn €310 million for GDPR violations tied to behavioral analysis and targeted advertising, citing invalid consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), improper reliance on legitimate interests (6(1)(f)), invalid contractual necessity (6(1)(b)), inadequate transparency (13(1)(c), 14(1)(c)), and unfair processing (5(1)(a)). The decision includes a reprimand, an order to bring processing into compliance, and administrative fines; LinkedIn stated it believed it was compliant but will adjust its ad systems, while the DPC will publish the full decision later.
