Microsoft blames Windows Server 2025 automatic upgrades on 3rd-party tools

Heimdal reported notable customer impact before blocking the update, and while Microsoft says the situation is mitigated and clarified that Server 2025 and Windows 11 24H2 updates will share KB numbers, guidance for rolling back affected systems remains limited to restoring from backups, and license requirements post-upgrade caused additional frustration.
