Proton experienced a worldwide outage affecting Proton Mail, Calendar, VPN, Drive/Docs, Pass, and Wallet after a software change during a Kubernetes migration constrained new database connections and caused an infrastructure overload. The incident began around 10:00 AM ET (spiking near 4 PM Zurich), led to intermittent failures (about 50% of requests for Mail and Calendar), and was resolved in roughly two hours, with Mail and Calendar restored last; services have since stabilized and are being monitored.
