Law enforcement in Ukraine and Germany have identified Oleg Evgenievich Nefedov as the leader of the Black Basta ransomware gang and added him to Europol and Interpol wanted lists; raids on alleged associates recovered digital storage and cryptocurrency. Black Basta, a ransomware-as-a-service active since April 2022 and linked to the Conti ecosystem, is credited with roughly 600 incidents affecting high-profile organizations worldwide and had internal chat logs leaked that aided attribution.
