Microsoft: Word deletes some documents instead of saving them

Microsoft warned that Word for Microsoft 365 version 2409 (build 18025.20104) may delete locally saved documents when users save on exit, particularly for files with a # in the name or capitalized extensions (.DOCX, .RTF); the company is investigating and recommends workarounds including manually saving before closing, enabling the option to bypass Backstage for keyboard saves, checking the Recycle Bin, and temporarily rolling back to build 17928.20156 until a fix is released.
