HUMAN's Satori team and reporting by BleepingComputer found 28 Android apps (including over 15 free VPNs) that used the LumiApps SDK with Proxylib to secretly turn user devices into residential proxies for cybercriminals (linked to the Asocks service); Google removed the identified apps and updated Play Protect, but some similarly named apps later reappeared and users are advised to uninstall or update to versions without the SDK.
