Two not-for-profit hospitals in northern New York, organized as the North Star Health Alliance, suffered a LockBit ransomware attack in August that exfiltrated patient personally identifiable information and protected health information; the stolen data is reportedly stored on Wasabi Technologies' cloud servers. The hospitals, which experienced disruptions to emergency care and appointment scheduling, are suing to obtain the stolen data from Wasabi and to force the ransomware group to destroy any copies.
